Did you realize that building with shipping containers opens up countless possibilities? Because they are strong, waterproof, and adaptable, these buildings are a great alternative to traditional construction for a variety of purposes. Shipping containers are reasonably priced, portable, and available in conventional sizes of 10′, 20′, and 40′, giving you the flexibility to pick how much room you want to use. Shipping containers are easily stacked or arranged side by side for more square footage because of their rectangular design. Read on to see the various ways we use containers in our design.

Homes

Texas Container Guest House Front

One of our favorite applications for shipping containers is homes. This guesthouse was designed for a client in Austin, Texas. It was designed from a single shipping container and converted into a stunning AirBnB with a covered balcony and a spa-style bathroom. This is an excellent example of how a vacant cargo container can be turned into an opulent retreat.

Restaurants

Nowadays, a lot of eateries are attempting to set themselves apart by offering intriguing menus and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Shipping containers’ strong and durable construction can provide a distinctive, contemporary ambiance. This Salad Spot restaurant in Logan, Utah, was designed by PSE Consulting Engineers. It combines cutting-edge ecological design concepts to produce a genuinely distinctive eatery that distinguishes itself from rivals. People are drawn in by the striking contrast between the black shipping containers and the vibrant artwork.

Sport Facilities

The Major League Lacrosse Team, The Ohio Machine, plays their home games in Fortress Obetz, a 6,500-seat stadium made out of 122 shipping containers. The Village of Obetz uses it as a community asset to hold a variety of events, including concerts, trade exhibitions, music festivals, and farmer’s markets. The stadium, which has video boards, food, and restrooms, is acknowledged as the biggest container building in the United States.

It is typically more expensive to have a shipping container returned overseas during periods of international trade deficits than to leave it at its destination and construct a new one. The more shipping containers are used in construction projects, the less shipping containers are left unused, protecting the environment from additional pollution and producing aesthetically beautiful housing options.

Aluminum or corrugated steel, which can endure harsh environments, are used to make shipping containers. They have been recycled and used as construction blocks for hundreds of projects around the world, including malls, office buildings, retail establishments, coffee shops, residential dwellings, rental properties, apartment complexes, schools, military installations, and facilities for the oil and gas industry.
